Ayer, "sesión jazzera de cada lunes", a punto estuve de incluir una excelente grabación de la noche anterior (también en Austin, una "toma" extraordinaria) pero me dije... Ramón ten paciencia porque seguro que "más pronto que tarde" dispondrás del "muy especial" (ya sabía lo que había acontecido) cierre de la gira de primavera.... ha sido pronto.

Lo que aconteció el sábado pasado en Austin es difícil de "procesar", Jimmie Vaughan (hermano mayor de Steve Ray) fue el "guitarra solista" de "His Band" durante muchos temas, mientras Doug Lacio se retiraba del escenario con "muy mala cara" y como Sergi Fabregat (Bobcelona) nos relata en Expecting Rain, desde una posición "prácticamente en primerísima línea de combate", en los muchos temas en los que Jimmie "estaba sobre el escenario" a Bob "se le iluminaba la cara". Con Dylan todo es imprevisible e inescrutable pero todo "señala" que a Doug Lancio (hace ya varios conciertos que Bob mostraba momentos de desagrado con él) se le ha terminado su "tiempo con Bob".  Dylan & Band volverán "a la carretera en  
 27 conciertos entre el 21 de junio y el 20 de septiembre (muy relajado para Bob... normalmente los "liquidaría" en mes y medio). Y ahí, sin duda, habrá sorpresas en "el setlist" y en la propia & His Band, lo que no significa necesariamente que Jimmie Vaughan vaya a formar parte de ella, pero sí es altamente probable que Lancio ya que lo del sábado fue, en palabras de Sergi (y de algún otro compañero de ER, presente y cercano al escenario), bastante "chungo" (incluso algo "mortificante") para Doug....

NOTA.- Ahora mismo estoy escuchando la grabación de Badpainter de hace 3 días en Austin en el equipo principal con la etapa Parasound y los JBL L-100 Classic y es una maravilla... plena, clara, definida, todo presente.........solo pensar en que puede ser superada me alucina..... Bob & Band están inmensos..... ¡me emociono....!... es LA GRANDEZA de Dylan y de una soberbia "toma" (aunque a veces se escuche de más "al respetable"), el directo "puro y duro en su máxima expresión".... estar ahí, "sentado" en el Moody Theater de Austín el sábado 6 de abril.

Todo "aficionado" al Jazz y el Blues debería escuchar esto... "rockers de cerradas miras".. mejor abstenerse.......

Curtis' last show ever.. On August 14, 1990, he became paralyzed from
the neck down when a lighting rig fell on top of him at a concert in
Brooklyn, NY. He died December 26, 1999 at the age of 57.


Tal como se nos comenta, el último concierto de Curtis Mayfield ya que en el siguiente, festival al aire libre con +/- 10.000 asistentes, con una fuerte tormenta en ciernes (se decidió no suspender) nada más salir a escena, cuando se le estaba presentando, el potente vendaval tiró una pequeña torre de focos que le golpeó justo debajo del cuello, donde comienza la columna vertebral, se desplomó y...... quedó parapléjico..... tenía 48 años... murió con 57 en 1999.

Hay que ESCUCHARLO, tarda en "salir a escena" (una banda BRUTAL nos lleva en volandas hasta ahí....) a sus 80 años (nacido, se supone, en 1912 en lo peor de lo peor del "más infecto sur", Mississippi))... los primeros 20 años debieron ser "de una dureza indescriptible e inconmensurable" (los primeros 10 fijo que de "semiesclavitud", Ku-klux-Klan por medio). Comparado con John Lee, Bob nació "en una familia de marqueses".......

AÑADIDO.- Ayer subí la grabación del último concierto (Austin, 6 de abril 2024, "toma" de Badpainter) de la gira de primavera de Bob & Band, un concierto que (al menos en el "Dylanworld") va a "tener impronta"..... ya tengo la de Nightly Moth (a quien conozco personalmente) y es muy interesante la comparación ya que las dos son excelentes y según configuración de equipo / sala puede "resultar mejor" una u otra. Repito que es un concierto "que marcará".... y es magnífico.....

Aquí lo que "subo" son las dos tomas (+/- igualando niveles, subiendo los de Badpainter entre 1 y 1,5 dBs) y una comparativa en la que SIEMPRE va primero "la toma" de Moth (así, abreviadamente, nos dirigimos a él en ER).....

This uncirculated MASTER SOUNDBOARD RECORDING was obtained by voxstarstream.  The holder of the MASTER CASSETTE was kind enough to allow voxstarstream to make a copy, for which we are all forever grateful

The MASTER was a TDK-D normal bias cassette, and although the specific model numbers of the decks employed cannot be recalled, the playback deck was a Harmon Kardon 2-head machine (playback azimuth adjusted!) and the record deck was a Denon 3-head machine (fine bias & calibration adjusted!), resulting in a very high-quality analog transfer!  It was then lovingly transfered to the digital medium (DAT) and from there a CDR copy was made (from which this torrent was extracted).

This is, simply stated, an INCREDIBLE Suicide gig, with excellent sound to boot!
