Dub Irie 5/1/2006
"This exceptionally good FM radio broadcast recording showcases Little Feat in session at Ultrasonic Studios for WLIR-FM, Long Island, NY. The show is very good, with loads of Lowell's juicy, down-home slide pervasive throughout. The recording is very high quality for 1973. Some tidbits of DJ interviewing Lowell and the boys are on here between songs. Lowell talks about writing "Willin" while in the Mothers of Invention. They perform an absolutely beautiful version of On Your Way Down. The mood of the recording is laid back and there are a handful of people hanging out there, who you can hear clapping between songs. I had this recording in my collection forever and it is so worn out it is a delight to hear this nice version. Arguably the best of the early Feat "boots", perhaps the only other one that rivals it is the other tape from the Ultrasonic on September 19, 1974."

DooDahDan - December 16, 2011
Subject: Ferocious Feat
"This is an unbelievable show both in terms of sound quality and playing and I dare say it is probably the best LF show on the Archive. This is a "must have" show for all you Feat freaks and casual listeners out there. Lowell is sorely missed but left us a body of work that crammed 10 lifetimes of fine playing into his very brief visit on this mortal coil, and this is just one shining example. Do not pass this one by."

https://www.discogs.com/release/4499645-Little-Feat-Late-Night-Truck-Stop
https://www.discogs.com/release/12345226-The-Grateful-Dead-This-Is-The-End-The-Fabulous-Recordings

These are recordings from the heyday of Underground Radio in San Francisco.
This set includes 82 tracks on 6 CDs (most are 80 minute CDs), featuring many
live performances, primarily produced and broadcast by radio station KSAN FM.
Many of the most popular (and a few lesser known) musicians are represented
during the key three years when Bay Area psychadelic music was peaking; from
1966 to 1968. The majority of these recordings came from the Avalon Ballroom
and the Fillmore Auditorium, where KSAN often recorded sets and created
production reels for local FM transmission. Since the production reels
primarily featured edited highlights, theres a consistantly high caliber of
performances documented here.
This collection is not, I repeat not, a duplication of the excellent "San
Franciscan Nights" compilation. Duplicating that material was, as much as
possible, intentionally avoided. However, there are some exceptions. 9 of
the 82 tracks in this collection were also included on the SFN compilation.
These 9 tracks were repeated here because they were either in different or
more complete form, as per KSAN production reels, and/or were of improved
quality. Here are those details:
CD#2: COUNTRY JOE & THE FISH:
Thought Dream (now part of an expanded Avalon set)
CD#4: CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & THE MAGIC BAND
Old Folks Boogie (now part of expanded Avalon set - was mistitled on SFN as
"Woe Is Uh Me Bop")
CD#4: BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING COMPANY
Bye Bye Baby, Women Is Losers, Call On Me, Ball & Chain (1st 3 are Avalon 67,
not 68 as notated on SFN. Upgraded.)
CD#5: CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL
Suzy Q (Upgraded)
CD#5 SANTANA
Treat->drums->Jingo (Upgraded. These were the two Santana tracks not listed
on the SFN tracklists.)
Other than those 9 exceptions, the 82 tracks on these CDs are all different
recordings than "San Franciscan Nights"
Theres a surprisingly strong continuity when listening to all these bands
together. The only set questioned was the Bo Diddley set. It was decided to
include this because unlike many/most of his contemporaries, he wasn't just
regurgitating his hits by the mid-1960s. Check out the spacey modal jamming
on "Eastern Thang," and the approach of his band and you'll hear how well it
fits. (He even has an electric violinist on this 1966 Avalon Ballroom set!
If anyone knows or has recollections who backed him around this time, we'd
all enjoy hearing about it.)
Although the majority of these recordings came from KSAN production reels,
several related non-KSAN recordings are also included.
Thanks to Harvey Lubar and the distribution people of San Franciscan Nights.
All the people that helped spread that collection around for free directly
inspired the start of this project.

https://www.discogs.com/label/1290513-It-Crawled-Out-Of-The-Vaults-Of-KSAN-1966-1968?page=1

Splice source (audience): Core Sound HEBs (dpa 4061s) > Core Sound Battery Box (Bass Filter On) > Sony PCM-M10 (@24/48)
(Row 8, center) > Audacity (Edits, Fades, Crowd Peaks Reduced, Bass Boost +2db, Tracking, > 16/44 WAV) > Trader's Little Helper > flac > (additional editing by nolataper:) > X Audio Compression Toolkit 2.23 > aiff > Bias Peak Pro 6.2.0.21692 (bass reduced about 3 db at 71 Hz, compression added with -15db threshold, limiting added with -10db; normalized about 11.5 db) > edited into the main recording, below.
Transfer: flac file (transferred by ftp from remote pc) > MacBook Pro (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) > X Audio Compression Toolkit 2.23 (convert to aiff) > aiff > Bias Peak Pro 6.2.0.21692 (trimmed, normalized by 5.6 db, split into songs) > X Audio Compression Toolkit 2.23 (sector boundaries repaired; level 8 compression) > flac
Notes: There were numerous dropouts and numerous glitches in the recording -- primarily in Track 6 -- that were inherent in the FM broadcast AND the online mp3 stream. The glitches seem to be related to the station's use of a computer for recording or processing that seems to get overwhelmed or overloaded, possibly from an overloaded processor, a too-slow hard-drive or a fragmented drive. The glitches sound sort of like a single note repeating itself over the space of a fraction of a second. The issues have plagued WWOZ's live broadcasts for years.
Where possible the dropouts and glitches were repaired or removed:
* A 2.2-second dropout was closed up at 3:00 into Track 18. There is an audible cut in the recording about 1-1/2 seconds later.
* There were 9 dropouts totaling about 11 seconds beginning about 4:22 into Track 6. In addition to the dropouts of silence, there were numerous glitches, rending about 45 seconds of the song virtually unlistenable (and unrepairable). That section was removed and replaced with a splice of 1:29 from the audience source, beginning at 4:11 into Track 6, with 10-second crossfades into and out of the splice. (The original, unedited FM track with the dropouts is archived.) Due to differences in sound quality, the transition to the audience splice is fairly jarring. But, arguably, it's better than the original FM recording.
The FM broadcast begin in the middle of Los Lobos' second song. In order to create a more complete recording, an additional splice from the audience source was used to restore the stage intro, first song and the beginning of track 2. The FM source begins about 1:48 into Track 3.

Led Zeppelin
Braves Stadium, Atlanta GA 1973-05-04
Soundboard soundcheck in stunning quality
First of all, it's possible you may have this material already. It's been misatrributed to Minneaplis 1975-01-18 for a long time. More of this set than is on this vinyl bootleg has already seen the light of day... BUT you may not have it in this quality (amazing!). If you don't have it, this is a must-get any way as the material and performance is first-rate.
Here's a direct quote from the Zeppelin database (found at http://www.argenteumastrum.com/1973.htm):
MAY 00 - UNKNOWN LOCATION (THURSDAY)
Very possibly that this soundcheck could took place on May 4, 1973 at the Braves Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia. There was a debate judging from which period this soundcheck might be. Often attirbuted to the Minneapolis January 18, 1975, the date was discredited as well as speculated Los Angeles June 25, 1975 afternoon soundcheck. Robert Plant's voice sounds quite damaged and dry, and so on, it matches almost perfectly with first leg of 1973 North American Tour period, where his voice wasn't yet fully recovered.
This is such a nice set that it bears listening to over and over again. I have this album in current rotation myself, it's that good.
Tracks have been generally split along major lines:
Custard Pie (NOT the released version!)
Wanton Jam
The Rover
Rover Jam/Night Flight
Chuck Berry Medley: No Particular Place To Go
CBM Nadine
CBM Reelin' and Rockin'
Rockabilly Jam: Move On Down The Line
RJ Rock Me Like A Hurricane
RJ Keep On Movin
RJ Dynamite/Shakin' All Over
Lineage: LP-> Sound Forge ->Click and Crackle Removal ->Flac via TLH, level 6, sectors aligned and verified, FLAC integrity checked
Enjoy!

Bill B's notes:
D.F. and I would coach the Seattle Kingdome video director (N.W.) on songs to be played at upcoming major shows. Basically he was "studying up" on song placement and solos to be expected. Having worked at both the Superdome and in Cleveland, N.W. had friends at other venues. He simply asked a friend working the show in Cleveland to get him a copy of the show and fire it off to us in Seattle. The guy brought in his home deck, walked up to the board, and being on the crew they plugged him in. Just that simple. These reels are a direct copy of the master cassettes done in the early 80’s on a brand new Akai GX-77 reel deck using Maxell XLII tape at 7.5 ips and the rare EE equalization that the tape required. I personally have a better trust in this source than I do in the actual masters now. The masters still exist, but they aren’t going in the mail, and after so many years, I just think that 7.5 ips quarter inch reels are the best way to go. They may never have been played before Weedwacker’s efforts. I kept a second “play” copy on Maxell UD reels for listening. This source is pristine, not one of the bootleg versions, not off crude cassette copies from me in the 80’s. This is the real deal. Thank you Weedwacker for stepping up to make this happen, you and Darrell, and NW, and whoever the guy was that plugged in.

James Taylor - Solo at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA 1970-04-25 SB (Jazamo Fix)
Here's a great James Taylor show performing Solo in Cambridge Massachusetts in early 1970. Through the 2 sets James is loose, funny, and gives a story tellers background to many of the songs to a loving audience glued to his every word. The Original 2007 file set suffered from Volume Fluctuations, 1 damaged track, and cuts. I have Fixed and cleaned up the whole show to improve the overall listening experience. The show is Sound Board sourced and contains some tape hiss (Hear Samples). Many thanks to the original seeder Jitters. A great document of early James solo, and as always your comments are Appreciated!

Jazamo Notes & Fixes 10/18/2014:
Set-1 seems complete, but Set-2 might be missing a song or two. Overall there were many Volume Fluctuations to Set-1, and Set-2 was recorded too hot. I have adjusted the Volume overall for more consistant sound. Track 1-01 cut in abruptly, I removed -.05 seconds to smooth show intro. Track 1-05 has a click rhythm which might sound like static to some, but its not. Track 1-11 had fade-Out-> Fade-In at the end applause, I fixed that. Added fade outs to ends of sets Track 1-12 and 2-10. Finally the Jan 2007 Dime upload of the song "Sunshine Sunshine" had numerous dropouts in source file making it unlistenable. The original seeder then re-upped the entire set with the track fixed but had not been reposted in dime since 2007. I didn't think I should hold back this show any longer so I have deleted the damaged track from my fixed set.
