Re: CLANDESTINO (tal cual...)
Hola,

The Clash
Sunday, May 10th, 1981
Japp Edenhall, Amsterdam
Source: 2008 FM Broadcast>?>.wav>.flac
Setlist:
1. London Calling
2. The Leader
3. Somebody Got Murdered
4. White Man in Hammersmith Palais
5. The Guns of Brixton
6. Lightning Strikes (Not Once But Twice)
7. Ivan Meets G.I. Joe
8. This Is Radio Clash
9. Charlie Don't Surf
10. The Magnificent Seven
11. Bankrobber
12. Train in Vain
13. Career Opportunities
14. Clampdown
15. One More Time
16. I Fought the Law
Old FM Radio Recording Info :
Dutch radio recorded the concert and broadcast seven songs. The songs chosen reflect the major musical changes happening in the band with a run of 3 lengthy Clash rap/funk songs:
Lightning Strikes, Radio Clash and Magnificent Seven, sandwiched between more traditional Clash fayre of London Calling, White Man in Hammersmith Palais, Bankrobber and I Fought The Law.
There are 3 circulating versions of this source. The original 7-song source has marginally better sound than the 8-song source found on the end of Stockholm’s Burning (and on the end of
the full audience source). The 8th song is One More Time with markedly poorer sound but from the soundboard radio source, suggesting that the rest of the concert may circulate from
this source one day.
The radio station mix has Mick’s guitar in the left channel and Joe’s in the right, with vocals, bass and drums centred. A highly enjoyable sound reflecting the move away from the
lead guitar dominance of the concert sound mix in 1980 (especially the May/June dates) to the pared down lead guitar sound and greater prominence of the rhythm section and vocals on
this tour.

The late 1974 US tour to promote "Sally Can't Dance" was Lou's amphetamine and alcohol - fuelled assault on the unsuspecting youth of North America. The RCA publicity machine had moved into top gear, but Lou was speeding way, way ahead of them.
While they were pushing him as a user-friendly glam-rock/white soul superstar, he was dying iron crosses in his hair, living with a half-Mexican transsexual called Rachel and (simulating) shooting up on stage.
The new LP and 45 were being being heavily promoted via nationwide TV ads featuring our man in trademark leather jacket, blonde hair and shades (...follow the bouncing ball and sing along with Lou.....).
Whatever RCA were doing, it worked, and "Sally" was in the US top 10 LP chart. Lou was later quoted as saying "....I slept through that LP - whatever they suggested I said yes....".
It seemed that the further Lou descended into self-parody, the more records he sold, and the more pressure RCA put on him to produce even more "product".
This would ultimately backfire in mid 1975, when he vomited up "Metal Machine Music" and then had a very public breakdown during the Australian leg of the '75 world tour. Lou wouldn't perform in public again until late 1976.
I think this is a simply outstanding show. Lou may be out of it, but the band most certainly are not. I love the way you can hear Lou slapping the mic stand at the end of "Vicious".
The vocals alternate between detached and manic throughout this set, but are particularly expressive during "Kill Your Sons" (surely the best EVER live version of this song).
It's as if he's standing on the edge of a cliff and he's just about to jump off because he KNOWS he can fly. This tour was the only outing for "NY Stars" and "Animal Language" - these live renditions sound better than the studio versions to me.
You can hear him sneering as he spits out the words to "NY Stars". It sounds as if someone broke a string during "Animal Language": the band start a loose jam while it's being replaced.
Lou starts vamping the words to "Waiting" during the jam, and just continues singing it when the band move on to the "Sally Can't Dance" riff.
The end result is a unique medley of "Waiting" and "Sally" (you have to wonder how long it took Lou to realise he was singing the wrong song - he did pretty much the same at the Chalmette show in November, singing "Vicious" while the band played "Sweet Jane").
"White Light White Heat" is a heavy metal prototype for every late 1970s punk band. "Goodnight Ladies" is a gas, with the whole band gathering round the microphone - you can (just) hear someone in the background asking where the "Jacks" (Jack Daniels) is.....they were having a good time. "Rock And Roll" is simply sublime.
The stereo recording made at Dayton was missing "Intro/Sweet Jane" and part of "Vicious" and there was a tape break during "Wild Side": mono soundboard recordings from the New York concert have been used to replace those songs.

"Rock And Roll" es simplemente sublime.

David Bowie - The Lost Beeb Tapes
Various BBC Sessions
Label: The Godfatherecords G.R. 375
Audio Source: radio broadcast
Lineage: Silver --> EAC --> WAV --> FLAC 8
From the earliest recordings made in 1967 to the sixteenth session in 2002 Bowie has contributed some fascinating live sets to the BBC archives.
The early recordings of Bowie at the BBC particularly hold great interest and document an artist still trying to find his way in the world with apparent giant leaps in style although if you really study them it’s more of a rapid evolution.
Most of the unofficial recordings have variable sound quality and generally attribute the wrong dates to the various sets Bowie performed up to the early 70s. Pick and mix bootlegs confuse matters still further as do the often repetitive set lists. The official Bowie at the BBC release is by far the best available but is far from complete so this is where this new release from Godfather steps in as in contains many of the important tracks missing from the original release and all in excellent quality.
Okay, the four volumes of ‘The Rise and Rise of Ziggy Stardust’ are more complete still, but have poor quality on some sessions. So if you have the official release then the ‘Lost Beeb Tapes’ makes a sensible purchase filling in most of the gaps in great quality.
The first session documents all the tracks from the Top Gear session of 1967. This vaudevillian period is often derided by Bowie fans but in truth the songs reproduced here live are worthy of re-evaluation and Bowie’s juvenilia is much more refined and developed than many would have us believe. These are clever songs for those with open minds and beautifully played.
‘When I’m Five’ is a sentimental monologue from the 1968 Top Gear Session and is the only full studio recording of the song (A rough demo also exists). The Dave Lee Travis Show of 1969 brings us a great version of ‘unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed’ delivered quite ferociously that in some way could be attributed to the then recent death of Bowie’s father.
The 1970 show offers us ‘Waiting for the man’ and ‘The Width of a Circle’ backed by Bowie’s then band ‘The Hype’. Both songs are guitar heavy workouts almost progressive in delivery.
The John Peel show of 1971 is quite an oddity and unique in sound and structure with various guest vocalists and friends helping Bowie fulfil his Warhol-come-Svengali aspirations. The pick of the sessions is the 1971 Bob Harris show featuring just Mick Ronson and Bowie in a stripped down acoustic set of ‘Hunky Dory’ songs. All the songs are played quite superbly and it’s surprising the whole set didn’t feature on the official release. The 1972 Bob Harris session completes the disc with a full on Ziggy version of the Velvet’s ‘White Light/ White Heat’. So it’s a 10/10 for Godfather so far.
Bonus tracks feature three tracks wrongly attributed to ‘Arnold Corns’ with the exception of ‘Moonage Daydream’. Unfortunately more complete and better quality versions of these three bonus tracks are available elsewhere.

These are the highlights from Hendrix's 1967 BBC sessions in the best possible sound quality. This set was compiled from the true mono BBC masters and not the poor fake stereo tape dubs used for "Radio One" and "BBC Sessions". The songs have been edited together to flow straight through like a radio braodcast or session tape. I wanted to keep the set down to a concise single disc, so the extra session material included on "BBC Sessions" has been excluded, however, this disc is more complete than "Radio One". This set was designed for audiophiles, but even the casual listener will notice an improvement over the official releases. There was no compression or noise reduction added in the remastering process.

Re: CLANDESTINO (tal cual...)
Otro tremendo concierto del 74', este lo tengo en vinilo (Whatever Happen to Dick and Steve) desde "tiempos inmemoriales", esta remasterización es significativamente superior

Lou Reed
May 14, 1974
Konserthuset,
Stockholm, Sweden
This copy here is at the correct speed and is combined from 3 different sources with numerous minor flaws
seamlessly repaired.
Other notes: The Swedish state radio company gave Lou and his new live band studio time for rehearsals and
then the first show of the tour at the Concerthouse in Stockholm was recorded for FM brodcast for the
radioshow "Tonkraft".
When this basic source before the final fixes was previously seeded, Sister Ray was cut
by a few minutes so that the show could fit on a single CD. Sister Ray has been restored here to it's full length
from an alternate reel source. I burned this with just the encore on a second disc, but the show can be split
elsewhere or left as the full show on a hard disk if desired (the disc transition is seamless).
Sources:
1. 2 track second generation pre-broadcast reel recorded at 7.5 ips speed [up to I'm Waiting For The Man].
2. Vinyl Bootleg "What Ever Happened To Dick & Steve" [for the rest of the show up until the cut in Sister Ray].
3. 4 track second (or possibly third) generation pre-broadcast reel recorded at 7.5 ips speed [seamlessly merged
from the cut in Sister Ray to the end of the show].
Tracklist:
01 [10:31] Intro/Sweet Jane
02 [07:18] Vicious
03 [04:03] Ride Sally Ride
04 [11:06] Heroin
05 [07:28] Oh Jim
06 [04:57] Walk On The Wild Side
07 [11:08] Rock 'n' Roll
08 [08:39] I'm Waiting For The Man
09 [03:50] Lady Day
10 [05:34] White Light/White Heat
12 [00:12] thanks and crowd before encore
11 [08:10] Sister Ray
The Band
Lou Reed - vocals
Danny Weis - guitar
Prakash John - bass guitar
Penti "Whitey" Glan - drums
Michael Fonfara - keyboards
